Terres de Café

The place to enjoy coffees and shakes from the finest plantations. In all seasons, but especially in summer, coffee shaken in a shaker is a temptation not to be resisted, especially when the quality is combined with the variety of preparations, with or without sugar. The company, which has been roasting coffee since 1979, also offers refreshing teas. The ambience and the sober but elegant decor should also please you and contribute to the pleasure of tasting.

Different addresses: Terres de Café, 32 rue des Blancs Manteaux, Paris 4e and 14, rue Rambuteau, Paris 3e or 13, rue d'Aligre Paris 12e.

Here's a place to shop with confidence! Recognized as one of the best caterers in Paris, and established in the capital since 1830, Maison Pou offers you complete, absolutely delicious menus, for everyday use as well as for special occasions. Don't feel like cooking? Then head to 16, avenue des ternes, in the 17th arrondissement, to fill your basket with delicious terrines of fresh foie gras, goose and duck, or a sublime poultry pâté en croûte... The home-made tarama is exceptional. Guinea fowl with morel mushrooms and coq au vin, to name but a few dishes, are simply perfect. As for the desserts, they're mind-blowing! Lemon, raspberry and strawberry tarts, and red fruit verrines are all little marvels. And there's so much more, to suit all tastes and of impeccable quality. Pou is open every day except Sunday. Go ahead, you won't be disappointed. The prices may be high for some, but they're as good as the excellence of the products.

Attractive value for money, formulas between 6.50 and 10.50 euros, brunch at 20 euros, fresh seasonal produce that you can add salted sesame seeds to, original gratins like quinoa leek and melt-in-your-mouth vegetable tarts, simple but very varied and excellent salads, classic but highly successful desserts like far aux pruneaux... The softness and inventiveness of the shapes will seduce you, and Henriette puts her talents and advice at your disposal to subtly furnish your apartment. The great designer's taste touches perfection and the place is full of surprises of all kinds. The place shines with aesthetics and creativity. Gift ideas or a desire for color and cheerful decor will be fulfilled. Highly recommended!

A house in Montmartre

In Montmartre, there's an alley called "Villa Léandre". Here you'll find several beautiful detached houses, which is unusual in Paris. There's a tranquil atmosphere here, where children can play in peace, as cars are rare. Of course, prices must be high, as you'd expect... While I imagined that it was affordable and admired these beautiful houses, I realized that I wasn't the only one walking around here. Finally, if I lived here, I'd see all these passers-by in front of my house too. I wondered if I was depressed...

Address: Villa Léandre, 75018 Paris.

Do you know Colette?

Colette is a boutique, or concept store as it's known in the trade, that sells all kinds of fun gadgets and "plus-edgy-tu-meurs" clothing. The condition for an item to be sold in this temple of über-trendiness: ORI-GI-NA-LI-TE! I'm sure you've already spotted some of Jeremy Scott's capsule collection for SWATCH... Well, the watch with the little wings is yours! Looking for pens like no other? BIC has created a 2-color pen sold exclusively at Colette... I'm not going to list everything you can find at Colette, but believe me, it's definitely worth a visit! Especially if you're looking for an original birthday present! (Or even if it's just to give yourself a self-gift, it's still fun!) For those who live too far from the capital (yes, I'm thinking of you...), there's even an e-boutique...

Address: 213 rue Saint-Honoré, 75001 Paris.

Le Bar à Chignons

No, it's not the new trendy bar - well, it is, but it's not a traditional bar. It's a bun bar. Tailor-made chignons, romantic chignons, banana chignons, wacky chignons and other original creations are all yours at Marianne Gray's hair salon, housed in a private building in the 18th arrondissement. Two, three strokes of the comb, a dozen pins and a mist of hairspray later, the result is stunning. In just 15 minutes, you'll have a real star's hairstyle! And the price? Well, surprise, it's not exorbitant: 20€ for 20 minutes or 30€ for 30 minutes. To conclude, I'd say: Be the most beautiful to go dancing, and get your hair pinned!

Address: Bar à chignon at Salon de coiffure Marianne Gray, 52, rue Saint-André-des-Arts, Paris 6e. By appointment, tel: 01 46 33 72 32.

The Tuileries Gardens

A typically French setting designed by Le Nôtre, who also created the famous gardens of Versailles. Here you'll find the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel next to the Louvre Pyramid, and the Place de la Concorde. You can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, read a good book by the pond, or just stroll around. Everything here is conducive to relaxation! In summer, you'll be able to take part in the entertainment offered by La Grande Roue, where you can enjoy an incredible urban view!

Atelier Boutique Géraldine Valluet

Géraldine Valluet's new collection has arrived! My favorite is the Pâquerette line. Delightful: a small pearl or semi-precious stone on a fine gold chain. Looking for everyday jewelry? You'll find just what you're looking for in this new collection, which I highly recommend! As you discover her creations, you'll be charmed by the beautiful colors of semi-precious stones, and the finesse of her work. You'll be amazed by their lightness and comfort. Géraldine Valluet is a Parisian jewelry designer whose universe is very poetic, beautiful, romantic and nostalgic. All jewelry is handmade, with semi-precious stones, pearls and Swarovski crystals, by Géraldine and her workshop staff.

She also offers one-off pieces for special occasions such as weddings. Its small showroom is located right on Place Pigalle, at the foot of Montmartre. Don't forget to print the advantage coupon for a small gift when you buy in the store. (2007-09-01)

The bags designed by Jérôme Dreyfuss have a refined line. Highly appreciated by customers, they are real bags for living. They are made from ultra-soft, lightweight vegetable leathers. Fine detailing and quality materials are de rigueur. Jérôme Dreyfuss is committed to preserving nature by offering creations that respect the environment, from the rearing of the animals to the finishing of the bags. Lis Voir bookstore

The Lis-Voir bookshop is dedicated to contemporary images. Its main sections are cinema (including animation), photography and video art, as well as novels, essays, philosophical works and children's books. The store focuses on a large selection of books devoted to animated films, a specialty lacking in most bookshops, including those specializing in cinema. You'll find technical books on animation as well as more theoretical or historical works, and beautiful books dedicated to great directors or studios.

Independent publishers, often offering books with original formats and quality illustrations, are also well represented here. You'll also find special book forms such as flip-books, and a selection of comics, mostly from independent publishers who, despite the quality of their work, sometimes struggle to get it distributed in bookshops.

We regularly organize meetings with authors and practical workshops (flip-books, animated film...), an artist to whom we've devoted a documentary, a director to whom we've devoted an essay, and also image-reading evenings, during which a guest can decipher and analyze an image, be it a painting or a photo. We can also offer mini-exhibitions of photos or paintings in collaboration with the many artists who populate the 11th arrondissement. Keep up to date!

Food for thought

Matières à réflexion designs bags and purses from recycled clothing. Each bag features a detail from the original garment, such as a snap fastener, pocket, buttonhole or leather button. That's why all their pieces are unique and numbered, like an art print. Black, grey or brown leather gives a chic, rock style. If you have an old leather jacket you no longer wear! Now you can turn it into a bag...your old jacket will come back to life. Bags are equally suitable for men and women. They also offer beautiful accessories and clothing designed by new French designers.
